Planning
Planning is the most important, but often
most overlooked, aspect of a web development project.
webstart.ca's planning process involves:
-
surveying your business landscape.
This involves an audit of your current business media
holdings and strategies including websites, search engine
rankings, corporate identity, marketing messages, and
operations.
-
market research and your competition.
By analyzing what your competition's strategies and niche
markets are, we can more easily and effectively determine
your strategy or niche market.
-
development of strategies to enhance
your current business and marketing practices. This could
involve the mock up of a new website design, analysis
of target keywords for search engine optimization, sketching
of sample logos, drafting of content, or more.
-
costing, return on investment, and
projected results. Specifics for the project are then
decided on and a master plan is drawn up.

Execution
A project's execution is straight forward,
having completed all necessary planning before hand, and can
be completed in a relatively short amount of time.
During this stage webstart.ca will:
- bring together all the developed ideas from the planning
stage and integrate them into one complete package.
- present the package, which could be an entire corporate
identity or a winning website in a mockup form
- further present to the client a prototype of the website,
and allow the client to respond with changes and enhancements.
Very often is the case that a client wants
to add in what seems to be a major idea that he or she thought
of during the execution process. Contrary to popular belief,
this is the most inopportune time to do so as it increases
the execution time and forces the project back into the planning
stage. It's better to produce the project as initially planned
and integrate the new ideas into a second version of the project,
but only after the final stage; project evaluation. |

Evaluation
Evaluation of a project allows for the proper planning and
execution of future projects and strategies, which brings
the level of the entire business up.
Evaluation takes place over several days, weeks,
or even months, and involves:
- tracking and analysis of data. This data can include such
things as sales conversion rates, most and least popular
web pages, search engine ranking performance, number of
unique visits, and so on.
- strategies to improve weaknesses can be developed and
the whole project development process begins again with
the planning of a second version.
